Joining Datasets

As of now, our group is still in the middle of searching for datasets to join with our original set. First, we plan to find more datasets on socioeconomic status of people who are in areas of the United States that is most affected by severe storms. We want to see if there is a correlation of areas being affected mostly by severe storms and occupants’ socioeconomic level. We are also looking for datasets that hold statistics on car accidents by different counties and time of the year. We understand bad weather most likely increases the likelihood of getting into an automobile accident. We also plan on getting more dataset on flights around the United States to compare flight delays for a specific area to another. Another candidate would be a dataset containing the demographics of people in each county. We would be able to see if there is a correlation between certain racial groups occupying the areas of the US that is affected by severe storms.

Our next steps in the following week is to decide on which datasets we will ultimately join together. We are monitoring each idea to see how deep of an analysis we can do with each one. Overall, we believe we have good ideas to go from and are optimistic about the analysis we can provide regarding severe storms.
